Coffee Bay is a beautiful little coastal village on the Wild coast of the Eastern Cape province in South Africa. The subtropical climate of the Wild coast is very beautiful with its long sandy beach situated between the green rolling hills and the blue ocean. Coffee Bay surely is one of South Africa's best kept secrets!
Coffee Bay got its name in 1893 when a ship full of coffee beans ran aground here. Some of the beans did take root and grew into little coffee shrubs, but unfortunately the soil was too salty for the plants to thrive.
Coffee Bay is the perfect destination for the outdoor enthusiast, fishing, abseiling, quad biking, hiking and surfing are among the activities on offer. Coffee Bay is host to the annual Bomvu Festival.
Coffee Bay's pristine beach is safe for swimming. The bay’s southern point offers one of the few consistent surfing waves on the Wild Coast.
There are many accommodation options in Coffee Bay, ranging from B&B’s, guest houses, hotels and style cottages, camping sites, backpacker lodges and two resort hotels.
