General Information

Stanford is an enchanting town situated just 30 minutes from its bustling seaside neighbour Hermanus.  Sitting pretty on the banks of the Klein River, Stanford is a relaxed town with a quaint slightly Victorian feel to it.

Many city-dwellers use Stanford as their home-away-from-home destination, enjoying its unique charm and friendly locals.  Leafy, green open spaces surround Stanford with its original village market square.  Food markets with organic produce, excellent restaurants and even boasting a microbrewery, Stanford has something for everyone.

Activities

If you enjoy the outdoors, then Stanford should be your next stop when touring the Overberg.  Just beyond the town are some fantastic mountain bike and hiking trails, zigzagging through mountain fynbos, forests and rivers - perfect for spotting the prolific birdlife found in the area.  Visitors also have the option of doing the “Historical Stanford on Foot” tour, which is a self-guided walk through the historical heritage heart of Stanford.
