Amapondo Backpackers welcomes you to your home by the sea in Port St. Johns on the magnificent Wild Coast of South Africa.
Our mission is to provide budget-friendly, immersive accommodation for backpackers seeking adventure and culture. We offer cozy dorms, private cabins with sea views, and vibrant communal spaces where you can connect with fellow travellers.
Nestled on a hill next to a tropical forest, Amapondo is only two minutes walk from the best beach in town. Our Bar area has a lovely sea view and serve drinks to the public and our guests. Braai / bon-fire area with comfortable chairs to relax and enjoy the Pondoland vibes.
Amapondo Backpackers Accommodation
• Dormitory accommodation with shared bathrooms and a communal kitchen.
• Backpacker Rooms - Twin, Double and Family rooms also with communal kitchen.
• Glamping Tents - private tents with shared bathrooms and a communal kitchen.
• Camping - Bring your own tent: camping ground is where several people sleep, with shared bathrooms and a communal kitchen. Campsite has no electricity. There is no vehicle access to the campsite, so you can’t get your trailer, roof top or caravan there – tents only.
• Self Catering Cottages - double beds with en-suite bathroom and kitchenette.
Amapondo Restaurant & Bar
Our restaurant and bar offers spectacular views and friendly staff. We serve delicious meals 7 days a week from 08h00-20h00. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
We cook unique Asian inspired dishes as well as the more traditional South African style meals, Grilled Burgers, Steaks, Chicken & Wings. We have a wide selection of delicious vegetarian dishes.
We have seating to accommodate 45 customers, 2 separate TVs to provide entertainment for sports fans and there is also an outdoor patio area with a cosy fireplace to keep you warm during the winter months.
Amapondo is well-known for having the awesome night-life in town and we are proud of being multi-cultural, multi-friendly, multi-talented and multi-fun.
Our vibey bar has great specials and we love to make use of our orange trees during June / July for the freshly squeezed orange juice season.

Weekends regularly turn into PARTY NIGHTS and during the week we usually take it easy hanging out in the bar and restaurant, listening to cool beats and chatting. ..... Sound inviting..??
