Boschrivier Farm & Stables situated just outside of Plettenberg Bay, close to Wittedrift, offers established stables and livery, pony rides, riding lessons, equi-trailing outrides, a luxury farmstay in our Kingfisher Selfcatering Cottage and homegrown organic produce, pasture-fed freerange pigs and nursery.
All this... nestled in our lush river valley, home to magnificent horses and more. We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of heaven on the Garden Route.
Kingfisher Cottage at Boschrivier Farm
This lovely cottage sleeps from 1-4 guests. The main bedroom has an extra-length Queen Bed and there is a Double pull-out sleeper-couch in the lounge - it is ideal for singles, couples or small families. The bedroom has its own private entrance at the back of the little garden.
The open-plan lounge/dining area opens onto a private stoep with braai/BBQ area. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering. There is no TV and cellphone reception is patchy on the farm. We offer free Wifi which works well, also for Whatsap Calls. (no streaming or big downloads).
The bathroom is spacious, with a large shower. The loo is separate.
Park your car right by your cottage under a shady tree.
Relax with a good book or play some board games, enjoy the abundant bird life while strolling around our beautiful farm, view our organic efforts, or enjoy mountain biking, horse-riding or a pony ride.
Unfortunately we don't accept pets as there are too many animals on the farm!
Kingfisher Cottage offers a farm-stay in easy reach of Plettenberg Bay so that you can also enjoy the restaurants, beaches and other attractions our beautiful area is famous for.

Horse riding and trails
Boschrivier Farm & Stables bring you horse outrides and Equitrailing of different durations. Enjoy beautiful views of the scenic Titsikamma mountains and fantastic bird viewing. Traverse open fields, forest, cross a river and you can trot & canter if you are confident and competent.
Our well-schooled trail horses are suitable for beginners, intermediate and experienced riders from age 12 and up. Please book in advance and advise any special needs; our Plett horse trails can be custom-tailored, e.g. to include picnics or cheeseboards, etc.
We are also a popular pony party venue and the kids of our self-catering cottage guests or farm visitors can book a pony ride - sure to bring joy! We offer horse-riding lessons, though our capacity is limited. However you meet them, you'll fall in love with our beautiful, friendly horses!
Home grown produce
We offer pasture-fed pigs, free range eggs and homegrown produce. We grow our fruit, herbs and vegetables organically and any excess veggies go to our pigs or chickens (that thank us with fresh eggs daily), or we process it into scrumptious bottled fare.
At the kiosk where our horse trails start (open during lessons or outrides, or by prior arrangement with cottage guests), we sell fire wood, horse manure, nursery plants and you can even spoil yourself to a cup of coffee and preserves on sale here, while you wait for a lesson or outride to conclude.
Stables & Livery
We offer onsite owner-managed stabling, natural livery and Equine Bodywork. Clean stables with unusually large runs will be difficult to find elsewhere!
Our facilities include large grass paddocks, grass schooling arena, lunging ring, rustic x-country jumps and fantastic hacking country on the neighbouring farm. We rotate paddocks to rest grazing. We collect manure daily to break the worm cycle. We blanket horses in winter and adjust feed accordingly.
Our qualified Equine Bodyworker personally interacts with your horse daily to administer custom-designed nutritional programs, any medication or fly treatment and to hail the Vet or Farrier as needed for shoeing and trimming. Every day they are mucked out, turned out and groomed. Tack cleaned and horse exercised only if contracted to. Rates vary according to feed and care needs. Farrier, equine dentist, vet visits and vaccinations are charged for extra.
