Jakkalsvlei, which translates to "Jackal's Marsh," is a family-owned winery nestled in the renowned Garden Route. The Jonker family has proudly owned Jakkalsvlei since 1972, and it is now cultivated by the third generation of Jonkers.
The unique combination of southern and northern slopes allows for the cultivation of premium grapes. The southern slope benefits from early morning sun, warm days, and cool nights. Our vineyards' temperate climate and restrictive soil are essential for growing high-quality grapes. Jakkalsvlei has been acclaimed for producing mountain-grown wines with exceptional depth, longevity, and elegance.

Jakkalsvlei Wines
Our classic Jakkalsvlei range offers something for every taste, featuring 14 wines that include red, white, rosé, dessert wines, and a sparkling wine. Our private collection includes 5 wines, among them a Methode Cap Classique.
Jakkalsvlei is proud to have received several prestigious wine awards, including three Double Gold Awards for our Lord Jackal wines at this year's National Wine Challenge. Both the Mount Cuvée and the Lord Jackal Cabernet Franc ranked among the Top 100 Wines at the 2024 National Wine Challenge.
Wijnhuis Restaurant
The Wijnhuis restaurant is brimming with exciting new culinary creations that promise to delight your taste buds. Our accomplished chefs possess a wealth of culinary knowledge and an unwavering passion for food. Their exceptional talent for pairing Jakkalsvlei wines with delectable dishes is truly remarkable. Given the popularity of our restaurant, we recommend making a reservation to secure your table. Alternatively, you can opt for an informal dining experience with pizza and wine on our picturesque lawn area. Jakkalsvlei is renowned for its delicious pizzas, which offer comforting flavours, and our pork belly, a firm favourite on the farm, is sure to have you coming back for more.

Wine Tasting at Jakkalsvlei
The tasting room at this Garden Route Wine Cellar overlooks the vineyards and mountains! Visitors to Jakkalsvlei can indulge in a unique and highly acclaimed experience, offering a variety of wine pairing options that cater to both wine enthusiasts and food lovers. The thoughtfully selected flavours and textures of our food complement the aromas and taste profiles of our wines, giving you a true experience of our wine selection.
Jakkalsvlei is a family-friendly destination where visitors can enjoy the tranquil farm atmosphere. Guests are invited to walk through the vineyards or explore the hiking trail on the farm. From around mid-February to mid-March each year, you can also pick your own Hanepoort grapes at Jakkalsvlei.
