Addo Dung Beetle Guest Farm is nestled on a mountain-top in the heart of the Sundays River Valley overlooking the beautiful Zuurberg Mountains. The five luxury chalets are found on a working citrus farm situated 5 km from the Main Gate of the Addo Elephant National Park. The Citrus part of the Farm is approximately 350ha with an estimated 151 000 individual trees.
The climate is hot in summer and winter is mild, with occasional snow on high lying areas. We experience summer rainfall and dry winters, but are a Malaria free area.
Addo Dung Beetle Accommodation
We have 4 Luxury Chalets (B&B), 4 inspired Dung Beetle Suites (B&B) and, 3 Rustic Bush Cabins with Self-Catering facilities. We are ideal for couples, parent-breakaways, honeymooners and for small groups.
Luxury chalets (B&B)
Our 4 Luxurious Chalets are nestled on a hill overlooking the magnificent Zuurberg Mountains. Each of our Chalets has a mountain view.
We have Chalets with 2 twin beds or a queen size bed. 2 children extra (up to 11 years), we add 2 x single stretcher beds with linen and towels or baby camping cot.
The chalets are equipped with the following: TV (Open View), air-conditioning with a heating and fan option, mini bar fridge, hairdryer, microwave, coffee & tea, safe and closet.
Each Chalet has an en-suite bathroom with 2 hand basins, in-side shower, outside shower, bath, toilet and all the towels are supplied.
All our bedside tables and headboards are made from a combination of local wood species found in the area. (Yellow woods, Oaks, Sneeze woods, Black Wood). The Sneeze wood chandeliers found through the Chalets and Lapa were used as fence posts on the farm until a few years ago. They are termite prufe. The porcupine quill lampshades found in the bathrooms and the lapa were hand made by the owners.
4 Dung Beetle Inspired Suites (B&B)
The only, true dung beetle inspired accommodation in South Africa!
The Dung Beetle suites are situated in the succulent valley bushveld vegetation with no view as dung beetle are always hidden, thus leading to a beautiful tranquil surprise in the bush. Walking distance from the main lodge and parking area.
Please note that the parking area is not at the suite but walking distance. Not suitable for those with walking difficulties.
Guests may make use of the other Addo Dung Beetle facilities at the main lodge area such as the swimming pool and more.
Newly added boma braai for you to enjoy making a braai and a hot and cold-water basin for dirty dishes. Cutlery and crockery provided BUT not a SELF-CATERING venue.
The Dung Beetle Suite has the following facilities:

Rustic Bush Cabins with self-catering facilities – unfortunately not child friendly
Our 3 private wooden bush cabins are for those real nature lovers situated each on different levels on the hillside in our safari area. Walking distance from the main lodge and parking area.
Each bush cabin has its own private out-side flushable toilet and out-side open air shower adjacent to the cabins.
You can enjoy your magnificent mountain view when you are preparing your food on your open deck kitchen or on the fire.
Please note that the parking area is not at the cabin but walking distance. Not suitable for those with walking difficulties.
Guests may make use of the other Addo Dung Beetle facilities at the main lodge area such as the swimming pool and more.

Child policy
Luxury chalets
Children between 4 and 11 years are charged half the adult sharing rate – we can add a single stretcher bed with linen and towels in the same chalet as the parents.
Children older than 12 years cannot be accommodated in the same chalet and will be charged the full sharing rate
Children younger than 3 years stay for free and we do have a camping cot available for children younger than 2 years.
Dung Beetle Suites
The 4 sleeper dung beetle suites are child friendly and this units have a unit price so our child policy does not apply to this accommodation.
The 2 sleeper dung beetle suites are too small to add any additional bedding for children.
Bush cabins
Our unique bush cabins are not child friendly due to it being too small to add additional stretcher beds.

Directions:
Take the N2 in the direction of Grahamstown/Makhanda. Drive through town of Colchester. After Colchester stay on the N2 in the direction of the N10 Paterson/Cradock. Take the N10 in the direction of Paterson/Cradock. At the Paterson intersection you will see the town is on your right. You will also see a road sign that say ADDO then take the left turn to ADDO at the intersection. After the left turn keep on that road which is the R342. On your left you will see the road sign for the Addo Elephant National Park entrance, upon passing the entrance of the Addo National Park it will be about 1km then you will see a road sign that says Zuurberg, take the right turn to Zuurberg. Once on the gravel road, DO NOT follow the Zuurberg signs anymore. On this gravel road you will see Addo Dungbeetle Guest farm road signs. After the right turn to Zuurberg on the gravel road you will take the next left turn you get, still on a gravel road. Keep on that road for about 3km and you will see the Guest farms entrance on your left.
