The scene is set, spring is in the air and the players are almost all in position as bookings open for the 11th annual Plett ARTS Festival. A vibrant tapestry of creativity, conversation and entertainment is about to unfold from 20 - 29 September 2024 in Plettenberg Bay. From the serene shores of the lagoon, through Plett’s vibrant neighbourhoods to the bustling town centre, the artistic spirit of our coastal gem comes alive.
The ten-day extravaganza promises an immersive experience of arts and culture including exhibitions from local and visiting artists - curated to provide a visually engaging experience, performances including comedian Kurt Schoonraad, Mel Botes and Jo Black. Workshops and talks on the calendar cover a fascinating variety of topics sure to delight the curious mind. This year’s Plett Land Art Route will pop up at the exquisite locations of Brackenburn Private Nature Reserve, Bronze Fields Farm and Plett’s beaches and lagoons during a festival themed CONNECT IN PLETT.
PLETT ARTS TWILIGHT MEANDER OPENS THE FESTIVAL
CONNECT with a vibrant and celebratory arts scene on Plett’s Main Street at the Plett ARTS Twilight Meander on Friday 20th September for the official opening of the festival. Unleash your inner artist, gather your friends and dress to impress in your most creative outfit to stroll the charming Main Street. enjoying exhibition openings, conversations with artists, live performances and delectable treats.
SHOWS & EVENTS
CONNECT with friends and family while enjoying comedy, poetry, music, design and more at Plett ARTS Festival’s shows and events. The programme includes rock performances, jazz, poetry, comedy and dancing with local DJs.
WORKSHOPS & TALKS
CONNECT with your creativity and curiosity through workshops and conversations led by renowned artists and thought leaders. Engage in insightful discussions and hands-on learning experiences on topics including sculpting, ceramics, local and paleontological history, virtual reality, visual language, and more.
PLETT LAND ART ROUTE
CONNECT with nature and art at Plett Land Art Route, a unique opportunity to explore scenic spaces in Plett while exploring the Land Art installations organised by Plett Art Residency in collaboration with Plett Tourism. Land Artists in attendance include Yoko Reijn, Zbys Kaczmarek, Derek Saul and Janet Ranson amongst many others. Land Art will be on show at selected locations on specific days, visitors are encouraged to check the map on the Plett ARTS Festival website or visit the Land Art Hub at The Junction Boutique Hotel.
EXHIBITIONS
CONNECT with artists from across South Africa in unique spaces as they exhibit across a range of mediums. The Plett ARTS Festival is a testament to the thriving arts scene in South Africa and its ability to inspire, connect, and transform. Join us for a memorable celebration of creativity and community with exhibitions across the area including the Plettenberg Bay Arts Association at Piesang Valley Hall, the Dallas Smith Gallery, Milkwood Gallery and other galleries and shops on Plett’s Main Street, and many more.
With over 70 exhibitions, shows, talks and events throughout the ten day festival, each will be an intriguing adventure through a world of colour, conversation and creativity surrounded by the exquisite beauty of South Africa’s favourite playground.
